At Every Turn by Anne Mateer ~ Review

At Every Turn
My Review: One wild ride!

Alyce Benson is so moved by the stories of the visiting missionaries that she presumptously pledges three-thousand dollars to their mission, and challenge the rest of the congregation to meet her donation. But she meets an unforseen roadblock, her father refuses to give her the money, and now she must raise it all on her own. And the only way that she can get the large amount is to use her God-given talents and her love of speed!
Can she make everything right before everything spins wildly out of control?

At Every Turn wasn't a hard book to slip into, from the very first I was intrigued, and I loved Alyce's big, giving heart. Alyce is a fun, and enthusiastic main character, and it was easy to catch onto her excitement! She was a spunky girl, with a great big love for God.

I loved Anne Mateer's unique writing voice, the first person telling really brought Alyce to life. I really liked Alyce's Grandma who was a wise woman, and was a perfect mentor to Alyce in matters of both life and faith.

There were many characters, and I thought it was really cool to be able to see them not totally objectively, but through Alyce. And let's just say that many of the characters are full of surprises!

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this exuberant read, and I was inspired by Alyce's love for God and passion to help others. There were moments of humor and fun, I found this book engaging and tons of fun! I guess the only thing I didn't like was the awful forboding I had that something bad would probably happen sooner or later! A very enjoyable read!

I received this book from the author and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much!
