My Review:
Brielle returns to her hometown a different person after a traumatic event that happened in the city.
Brielle meets a mysterious boy named Jake with a unique gift that makes him a target for supernatural forces, in a battle between good and evil.
While this book was well written and executed speculative fiction, I found that this book wasn't particularly my flavor but I still appreciated it's depth and the storytelling elements.
Ms. Dittemore wrote the characters in first-person, present tense so it was easy to understand what the characters were feeling, yet I didn't learn everything right away which kept me in suspenseful ignorance for quite awhile, because I was trying to figure everything out!
I guess the problem I had with it was that with all the angels and demons in the fore-front, God seemed very distant. But overall this book just wasn't my style, though I still very much appreciated the poignancy. A book to read with discernment.
