Gabriel's Atonement by Vickie McDonough ~ Review

Gabriel's Atonement (Land Rush Dreams #1)Lucie's Review:

Gabe is a gambler who sees gambling as a easy way to a successful way of life, that is until he get's involved in a tussle that finds a man with a wife and child dying in his arms. After that Gabe re-examines his life, and determines that the only way he can make things right is if he returns the money he won to the dead man's wife.
Lara Talbot is doing the best that she can to care for her son, Michael, her grandfather, and her sister, Jo. She hasn't seen hide nor hair of her husband in a long time.
So when a gambler shows up out of the blue telling her that her husband is dead and offering her money she is hesitant but as she struggles to take care of her family, will she realize that maybe this gambler is the man that God sent her?

Gabe really changes over the course of this book he goes from a gambler who cares very little about others, to an honest man caring for a widow and her family.

I really liked Lara's grandfather, he is a strong man of faith, who never waivers even through the circumstances. He wants to ride in the land rush even though he is suffering from swamp fever.

I liked that Gabe remembered what his mother taught him and how he helped Lara in the land rush.

Overall, a wonderful read, from beginning to end, with great characters, and a fantastic setting during the Oklahoma land rush.
