Counting on a Cowboy by Debra Clopton ~ Review

Counting on a Cowboy (Four of Hearts Ranch #2)
Lucie's Review:

The second book in a series, it can be read alone or as part of the series. I loved "seeing" the familiar faces and catching up with the rest of the community.

Maggie is still writing her advice column, and her advice is one of the things that convinced Abby Knightly to move to Wishing Springs.

Bo Monahan is trying to wrangle a stubborn bull off the road, when suddenly he's blinded by headlights, and almost run over, and the car goes off the road. He goes to check on the driver, and she seems to be OK until she sees blood and faints.

When Bo and Abby find a baby on Bo's doorstep they are confused, until it is discovered that the boy is Bo's son, and now that his mother is dead, Bo is responsible for raising Levi. Abby steps in and offers her help, will this make shift family make in it for the long haul?

Bo is the perfect cowboy hero, he's made his mistakes in the past and owns up to them. The youngest of the Monhan brothers, he works hard as a custom stirrup maker, firefighter, and of course cowboy. He's determined to be the best dad that he can be to little Levi. I love how he and his brothers are devoted to their grandfather and want to help him out and keep him from going to a home, despite his struggles with Alzheimer's. He's also devoted to being a good friend to Abby, and takes time to let her know that he'll be there for her.

I love how Abby get's her second chance in Wishing Springs and how the women welcome her with open arms.

Overall, this was great read, engaging and fast paced, it was a hard one to put down, I got so immersed in the story and the community, I can't wait to go back soon! There was great dialogue and I loved how both Abby and Bo learned how the mistakes of the past don't define them today. What a great read!

About the book:
Counting on a Cowboy
 (Thomas Nelson, August 2015)

After losing everything she held dear, Abby never wants to love again. But a certain cowboy may just spur her to wonder if love might be worth the risk.

Running from a past that haunts her, Abby Knightly is drawn to the cozy town of Wishing Springs, Texas. Maybe this small town could offer hope and healing and a future for Abby . . . if she's brave enough to reach out and take it by the reins.

Bo Monahan isn't interested in the new romantic destination his little town has become---or the women who might be looking at him like he's their next Mr. Right. Between taking care of his Pops and his growing stirrup business, he isn't looking for serious romantic commitments. But when the infant son he never knew about shows up at his doorstep, his world is turned upside down.

This confirmed bachelor might not think he needs a wife, but he sure needs help. Even Abby can see that, and despite her best efforts to keep her distance, she can't help but be drawn to this new father-son duo. As Abby throws herself into helping Bo navigate fatherhood, hope sparks between them, revealing that maybe, just maybe, they can navigate their dark pasts and emerge together into a future as bright as the Texas sun itself.
