Just One Summer: A Romance Novella Collection by Nicole Deese, Tammy L. Gray, Amy Matayo, and Jenny B. Jones ~ Review

Just One Summer: A Romance Novella Collection
My Review:

Four best friends, Joss, Darby, Sydney, and Avery, have been best friends for years, and they have a long standing tradition of spending their summers together at the lake. For the first time in years they are spending their summers separately, follow each of the girls as they find love and themselves during Just One Summer.

Joss learns to let go, and embrace the uncertain future, while spending her last summer at her family's cabin, and spends time with Drew Culver, as they help each other cope with the big changes in their lives.

Sydney's mom is getting married yet again, and because of the wedding Sydney finds herself spending her summer not at the lake with her friends, but on paradise with two brothers, struggling to find common ground in light of their loss.

Darby is an aspiring actress, down on hr luck, and working at a tattoo parlor, despite her fear of needles. Will she be able to face her fears, as she learns that there is more to her tattooed and talented boss than there appears to be.

Avery is supposed to be spending her summer at a French restaurant, cooking culinary masterpieces, but instead she finds herself as the head cook at a dude ranch owned by her estranged grandfather, where the best received food is simple, homestyle cooking. Oh, and not to mention a handsome cowboy...

A great summer read, I zoomed through these lovely stories in a matter of days, each of the stories was unique and had positive themes of ending conflicts and accepting the ever challenging roller coaster that is growing up, as well as finding love in unexpected places.

I loved each of the stories and it is hard to pick a favorite. But I think my favorites had to be Joss's story and Avery's. I liked the natural "meet cute" and interaction between Joss and Drew. And in Avery's story I loved Jenny B. Jones's trademark sass, as well as the western setting, and cute cowboy!

I really liked Lennon, the relaxed man of many talents, and how he reaches out to Darby and helps her face her fears and gain confidence. And in Sydney's story, I just loved the overall dynamic, with the brothers, and the island paradise feel.

Overall, a fantastic collection, full of friendship, romance, and humor that is perfect for a summer vacation, or when you just need a break.
