The Cowboy Bride Collection by Susan Page Davis, Vickie McDonough, Susanne Dietze, Nancy J, Farrier, Miralee Ferrell, Darlene Franklin, Davalynn Spencer, Becca Whitham, and Jamie Wright ~ Review

The Cowboy's Bride Collection: 9 Historical Romances Form on Old West Ranches
Lucie's Review:

Filled with humor, mystery, adventure, and romance, these nine novellas tell of honorable men and women who dared to make a living off the land, living in the wild west.

I liked Bat's dog Woolly who comes to save the day in The Cowboy Poet. And it's a misunderstanding that starts it all for Jackson and Lily, in For a Song, when he asks for songbirds, and instead gets women who can sing.

I liked the hero in Crazy About Cait, Jonas, who has come to faith and turned his life around since then. He wants to show Cait that he has changed.

Love comes at unexpected times like in Love's Sweet Storm, when Addie takes shelter from a storm and when a half frozen cowboy shows up she nurses him back to health. Will Addie be able to keep her prior commitment?

The Reformed Cowboy, Wes, has been writing to Millie for years, and when he hears that she is teaching a class on manners he decides to sign up under a different name and meet her. But as more problems occurs, the moment of truth draws near.

I really liked the mother in A Texan's Surprise, she brings Sadie and her girls with her to visit her son Trey--without telling him that they are coming. She wants him to teach Sadie to be a proper rancher's wife, will Trey finally pick up on what his mother's been hinting at all along?

I loved The Wrangler's Woman, and it as probably one of my favorites, Corra agrees to teach Josiah's daughter to be a lady. I like the way that Corra doesn't expect Jess to totally change who she is, and reads the Bible every night.

The Cowboy Competition made me want a horse just like one of the book's heroes, the horse Blaze, that Toby trained himself.

The dialog was fantastic in The Cowgirl's Lasso, CJ comes to the Desert Pony Ranch to work as it's new foreman, but the owner still wants to control everything, can the two find a way to work together?

Overall, a fantastic read, all of the stories were enjoyable and new to me. This is a great read for anyone who enjoys a western romance.

The Legend of the Easter Robin by Dandi Daley Mackall, illustrated by Richard Cowdrey ~ Review and Giveaway

My Review:

When Tressa sees a robin outside her grandmother's house, she worries about the eggs and the chicks inside, but her grandmother reassures her that God will care for the robins. Then she tells Tressa The Legend of the Easter Robin.

A delightfully illustrated children's book, in the bright colors of spring. The story reminded me of Luke 12:6, which tells of God's ever faithful watchkeep over us, and he cares for even the sparrows.
A lovely take on the traditional Dutch legend, great to read with children and teach them of compassion and the care God keeps over us.

About the book:
In the center of the nest lay one perfect egg, the color of a spring sky. The father robin sat on a branch nearby, guarding his family. Tressa spotted raccoon tracks below and a blue jay eyeing the nest. “Gran, how are we going to keep the egg safe?” “We’ll have to leave that one to the Creator,” Gran said. Robins have built a nest on the window ledge at Grandmother’s house! Tressa is thrilled―and concerned. What will happen to the sky-blue egg laid by the mother robin? As more eggs appear, Tressa witnesses the daily drama of the robins’ nest and learns how God cares for all creatures. Besides watching the birds, there are Easter eggs to color. And there is a very special story to hear―a tale of long ago about one small bird with a very big heart. How did the robin get its red breast? Tressa is about to find out as Gran tells her the story of the Easter robin. Brought to life with colorful, tender illustrations, The Legend of the Easter Robin will captivate and teach your child about compassion and faith.

I Said Yes by Emily Maynard Johnson with A.J. Gregory ~ Review

I Said Yes: My Story of Heartbreak, Redemption, and True LoveMy Review:

Emily Maynard Johnson is best known for her appearances on the Bachelor and Bachelorette. Here in this book she chronicles her journey to a true meaningful, sustaining faith, and true love from God.

Emily tells of her childhood, and relationship with her first love and late fiance, as well as the struggles she faced while being a young single mom, and the whirlwind that brought her to The Bachelor.

Emily shares pieces of her life, in this peek into her heart, as she tells of her journey to a purposeful faith, and finding true love.

I am not terribly familiar with the Bachelor franchise, but I did catch some of Brad Womack's 2nd season, and was very impressed with Emily and how important her daughter was to her, and how she represented herself. After that season I didn't watch much, but when I heard Emily was back I didn't miss an episode, because I really liked her as a person and wanted her to be happy--despite being very skeptical of the show and it's format.

If you are looking for a tell all book of shocking Bachelor secrets, this probably isn't the book for you. Instead this is an uplifting and inspiring read about a young woman who found true hope and security in Jesus Christ, and the turning points in her life that brought her to faith.

I enjoyed reading about Emily's story, and was touched by how her faith evolved and grew throughout her journey. I have so much respect for her, and how she is able to look back on things in her life and learn from them, seeing God's call in every step.

Overall, a wonderful and enjoyable read, with a happy ending. A great read for recovering Bachelor and Bachelorette  addicts, and for anyone who is somewhat familiar with Emily's story. I think my favorite chapter was the last one where she shares more about her husband and their journey to marriage, and shared faith in Jesus Christ.

In conclusion, you don't have to go on a TV show to find love, sometimes God's best is waiting just around the corner. :)

Undaunted Hope by Jody Hedlund ~ Review

Undaunted Hope (Beacons of Hope #3)My Review:

Tessa Taylor is looking forward to leaving her past indiscretions behind her and starting afresh as a teacher in a small mining town. But things are not as simple as she was led to believe, the town is run by Percival Updegraff, the clerk of the mine owner, and he runs the town with an iron fist, nothing happens without his knowing or say so.

Alex and Michael Bjorklund are the only exception to Percival's ever increasing rules, as lighthouse keepers they are not employed by the mine. Ever since the death of Michael's wife, the brothers have worked together to raise Michael's two children, Gunnar and Ingrid.

But when Alex and Michael both decide to pursue Tessa, and Percival makes his thoughts and power known, will Tessa's new found friends stand by her when all is at stake?

A riveting journey, engaging, with memorable characters that captured my heart. I loved Tessa's determination and drive to teach, sharing her love of learning with her students of all ages. She knows she made a mistake a long time ago, and is doing her best to show that she has matured and grown from that.

Alex and Michael are brothers, different in demeanor, but similar in what and who they love. Where Alex is spirited, Michael is more reserved, though they may quarrel at times they care for Gunnar and Ingrid and love them unconditionally. I loved both brothers, and their hearts for their family and for justice.

One of the things that stood out most to me, was the wonderful job that Ms. Hedlund did creating the perfect feel for the community. Though the many characters, of the miners, the Updegraff brothers, the wives of the miners, and the children, the story was excellently told, and I got the feel for the Michigan mining town, and felt every thrum of tension.

Overall, a fantastic read, that drew me in from the very first. Thought part of a series this book works well as a stand alone, though I would definitely recommend reading all of the amazing previous books in the series. I was impressed with how much Tessa had grown and matured since I last read of her, I wasn't sure how much I'd like her, but Ms. Hedlund made me love her! A pleasure to read all the way through, I was nervous about writing this review because I loved it so much and didn't want to not say enough, or say too much. Fantastic read, engaging characters and plot with a sense of urgency, would highly recommend to fans of historical fiction!

Much thanks to Jody Hedlund, who graciously gave me a copy of this book to read so I could share this review with you.

The Rancher's First Love by Brenda Minton ~ Review

The Rancher's First Love (Martin's Crossing, #4)
Lucie's Review:

Samantha Martin and Remington Jenkins were teenage sweethearts until Samantha was sent away to live with her aunt. Now she's a nurse and back home in Martin's Crossing, working in the children's wing of the hospital.

Remington Jenkins is a full-time rancher, part-time preacher and he a has a heart for children and wants to make life easier for his young cousin.

Will Remington and Samantha give their first love a second chance?

I loved Remington's heart for others, and I instantly fell in love with little John Wayne, his miniature pony that he takes to the hospital to cheer up the children staying there. He has a big heart and is moving back to Martin's Corner to help his aging grandfather and his cousin Parker.

I liked Parker and his enthusiasm for life, he doesn't let being in a wheelchair slow him down at all, he is friendly and outgoing, and an absolute pleasure to read about.

If Remington's grandfather is one thing it's determined. He knows he's slowing down, but he refuses to quit, and he's also great giving Rem, wise counsel.

Sam is my favorite, she went through a lot 10 years ago, and she chooses to come back and try again in Martin's Crossing.

Overall, I loved how it brought together all of the Martins, and hos Sam's brother are trying to rebuild their relationship with Sam. I loved the dialog between Sam and Rem, and how their relationship grew through it all. I loved everyone in Martin's Crossings, and how well the various characters were integrated into the story. Fantastic, engaging read, that I couldn't put down!

Kissed by a CowboyLucie's Review:

Jarrod get's a second chance with his high school sweetheart and first love, Cassidy.

Cassidy returns to Wishing Springs to her inheritance of a strawberry farm, she's not looking for love after her crushing divorce. Finally free of her ex, she's ready to start again, ad make a success of her new strawberry growing business.

Can Jarrod help Cassidy's hesitant heart trust again?

A thoroughly engaging and entertaining read from the very first. I loved the humor, in the story--especially the way that Jarrod finds out that Cassidy is back in town. I love the way that the town embraces Cassidy and treats her as if she never left.

I also liked the side story of Rand and Pebble, and their oft times confusing relationship.

Jerrod is a busy guy, a dedicated rancher and horsetrainer, he is also the fire chief.  I liked his close bond with his grandfather, and how he makes an effort keep his grandfather involved with ranch life, despite his failing memory.

Overall, a fantastic read, nearly impossible to put down, with action, mystery, romance, and second chances. Lots of fun and a community of great characters. A fantastic conclusion to an amazing series!!!

Divorced and humiliated, her faith on rocky ground, Cassidy is through with love. She's been bucked off that horse far too many times. Rancher Jarrod Monahan's hands are full running the ranch, looking after his ailing grandfather, and chasing down a group of rustlers on the loose. He's pushed his longing for a family to the bottom of his list of priorities. Besides, he was in love once but ran scared and lost his shot at happiness. But suddenly, the biggest regret of his life has moved in next door with a wounded heart, determined to become a spinster . . . and that's a challenge that Jarrod can't pass up.

Jarrod sets his mind to breaking down the walls around Cassidy's stubborn heart. How can he show her that a cowboy's kiss lasts forever? For the good folks of Wishing Springs, falling in love has never been so much fun to witness.

The Hero's Sweetheart
Lucie's Review:

Olivia works at Sully's diner, and he is a good friend and father-like figure in her life. He encourages her to become an EMT, and not to let the fear of her dyslexia getting in the way stop her.

When Sully has a stroke, Olivia is there to help him,and after accompanying him to Eagle Point Trauma Center, she contacts his son, Jack.

Jack is the pride of Sully's life, and serving with the armed forces overseas. So she keep him posted, until he can get home. Jack wants to keep Sully's open, but he starts making a lot of rules that make it difficult for Olivia, because in the past Sully was always considerate of her study time. But Jack is suspicious because money is missing and the bank is about to forclose.

Will Jack and Olivia be able to trust each other to keep Sully's up and running?

I really liked Sully from the beginning, he sees Olivia as she is, and supports her dreams. I liked how when he woke up he immediately started playing matchmaker. I loved how he is so proud of his son, too.

Plus, there was an ongoing Ford or Chevy debate, which kept me laughing.

Overall, a good read, and I liked Sully alot. Olivia and Jack spent a lot of time at odds with each other so I guess I was a bit unsure at the end if they were really they ideal couple.

Keeper of the Stars by Robin Lee Hatcher ~ Review

Keeper of the Stars (Kings Meadow Romance, #3)Lucie's Review:

Trevor Reynolds follows through on his promise to Brad Cartwright, returning home to King's Meadow.

Brad's sister, Penny, isn't happy to see Trevor back. She blames him for her brother's death.

Can she forgive, and open her heart to love?

Penny is the town librarian, she tries to help her dad as much as she can, but she struggles with her grief and anger.

Trevor is friendly to everyone and he tries to help Penny as much as he can, despite her constant rejections. I like Trevor and his determination, he knows he doesn't have the answers but he is open to God's word, and wants to do what Brad would have wanted.

Overall, this is a fantastic read, full of faith, family and forgiveness. I loved Rodney Cartwright, Penny's father. He's the real deal, a cowboy, a Christian, great father, and a hardworking man. I loved his conversations with Trevor, there was great dialog throughout, but Trevor and Rodney's talks were my favorite! A fantastic read from beginning to end, with great character progression and growth, engaging from the start, and filled with hope.

Love is Patient Romance Collection by Erica Vetsch, Connie Stevens, Vickie McDonough, Darlene Franklin, Janet Lee Barton, Frances Devine, Lena Nelson Dooley and Jill Stengl ~ Review

Love Is Patient Romance Collection: True Love Takes Time in Nine Historical Novellas

Lucie's Review:

9 couples find love worth waiting for, in this Western novella collection.

I liked the way that August turns his life around after becoming a believer in The Spinster's Beau. I loved his joy and how he wants to share the change with his friends.

To of the stories are about sisters who become mail-order brides in Wyoming and they work along side their husbands, to make their marriages work.

In A Birthday Wish, Gladys helps out an older gentleman and meets his handsome grandson.

Three friend finds love in Cactus Corner, and help the children in the orphanage. Funny moments and missed communications make these stories delightful reads.

I liked how teamwork often played a huge role, like in Hope's Dwelling Place, where Amelia and Hank work together to keep his niece and nephew from the orphanage.

Harvest of Love was my favorite, and I liked how Calvin comes up with a way to help Libby, in return she teaches his girls to cook and clean.

Overall, this is a lovely collection of great stories about being patient in love. Great for fans of Prairie Romance.

Ransom by Terri Reed ~ Review

Ransom (Northern Border Patrol #4)
Lucie's Review:

When Liz Cantrell receives a message that her sister is being held for ransom she is determined to whatever it takes to get her back, bringing a rare necklace made of uncut diamonds to pay off her sister's captors.

Blake Fallon intercepts the drop, preventing Liz from walking into a trap. He's been on the trail of an infamous diamond smuggler, and with Liz's help he may have everything he needs to break the case wide open.

Will they be able to rescue Liz's sister before it's too late?

A fast moving novel, that I didn't want to put down for even a minute. From beginning to end, I loved it and didn't want to put it down. Filled with action and adventure, with plenty of tension.

Liz and Blake get to see each other in tense situations, where true character shine through. They come to admire each other and trust each other, and their dialog is fantastic!

I love Blake's sense of duty, he is determined to do everything he can to help Liz's sister and catch his crook. I like how Liz relies on her faith, and she challenges Blake to rethink his own. Liz is a trooper, and willing to take risks to save her sister.

A fantastic read with plenty of tension and suspense, the bad guy always seems to be one step ahead of them, and the plot kept me guessing! Well, written and engaging, with plenty of twists and turns, this a book that truly shows off the IBETS team at their best. Highly recommend this book!

Blue Ribbon Trail Ride (Horses and Friends #4)
My Review:

When Kate overhears her parents talking about how they won't be able to send her autistic brother to summer camp, she and her friends Tori and Colt come up with a way to raise the money. They will host a horseback scavenger hunt, but when the money collected goes missing along with the antique box that held it, it is up to Kate and her friends to find the money before the fundraiser is cancelled. Will they be able to find the culprit?

A fun filled adventure with great friends who love horses, and a mystery to solve. I liked Kate she is a great leader. and she cares alot for her brother, and wants him to have a great experience at camp.

I liked the characters, and how her family is willing to support her and ready to laugh with each other, Kate also has great friends who support her and want to help, and also share her love of horses.

Overall, a fun read, great middle grade fiction, and perfect for the young horse lovers in your life. Where the Heart Is: Romance Collection by Andrea Boeshaar, Carol Cox, Rhonda Gibson, Sally Laity, Jane LaMunyon, Claire Sanders, Connie Stevens, Jane LaMunyon, and Erica Vestch ~ Review

Lucie's Review:

9 couples find love on the wild frontier.

Where the Heart Is, tells the tale of Leah and Blake as they meet in church and follows them back to Wisconsin where they go to make a life together, learning more about each other everyday.

Polly in The Midwife's Apprentice goes along on the wagon train to help a woman when her baby is being born, but she also helps everyone else in their time of need, in order to survive. She beings her mother's journal along for comfort, and reads it often. She is one of my favorite heroines in this series, strong and always ready to help others, in this amazing, poignant tale.

Murder or Matrimony is a mystery that takes place on a wagon train. Megan notices the new guy, Bernie, who seems to be watching her. As Bernie get's know Megan, he has questions, but he doesn't jump to conclusions. Will they be able to solve the mystery together?

Bride in the Valley follow the same wagon train as the previous story. Penny though raised in a life of privilege, sees Dillon as a great guy. I liked her relationship with her dad, and how she encourages Dillon to be more confident.

New Garden Inspiration is one of my favorite stories, Leah agrees to marry Caleb the day before he goes to war and take care of his two young sons. She is industrious and keeps bees, and knows how to use their honey for it's healing properties. A wonderful story, with great interaction between the characters.

In A Tender Branch  when Jesse shows up on Mary;s doorstep with surprising news, she doesn't know what to think but before she knows it she is on a cross country train trip. I liked how Mary prayed and sought God's guidance with an open mind.

Knight and Day is about Evelyn and her sisters who agree to marry men in Wyoming, but when they get there and Evelyn and Gareth meet, they found that they both have been keeping something from the other--their children! But as they get to known each other, they find themselves becoming a family.

On a White Charger is about Evelyn's sister, Emmiline, who is looking forward to marrying a cowboy. But Joe isn't like anyone that she's read about in the dime novels. Will Joe be able to win her over with his steady faith and patience? I loved Joe, by far my favorite hero, he is patient, kind and sticks to his convictions.

I loved the humor in The Wonder of Spring, Charlene writes stories about her grandfather, Jed, under the name Charlie Martin. But when the new owner of the newspaper comes to town, they are all in a sticky situation. Charlene knows something is up when her grandfather invites Matt to stay with them. Will it all be untangled in the end?

Overall a wonderful collection, of interesting and entertaining stories by various authors.

Reclaiming His Past by Karen Kirst ~ Review

Reclaiming His Past

Lucie's Review:

When a man who doesn't even know his own name stumbles in Jessica O'Malley's yard, she is hesitant to help him, but her mother insists that they take him in and let him stay until he is fit to leave.

Grant is the name that he chooses when he cannot remember his own, though Jessica finds a Bible with the name Parker in it, he's pretty sure that's his last name. Though he can't remember who he is, his actions show him to be a man of honor and good character.

Will he ever be able to remember and reclaim his past?

A wonderful read, full of life and mystery. I liked how Grant makes up wild stories of his past life in hopes of countering Jessica's suspicions. He is encouraged by his memories of songs and verses, and the support of many new found friends, but he fears what his past holds and what it could mean for his growing relationship with Jessica.

Overall, a well written read, with a good story arc, and realistic characters who grew through a strong friendship. I loved how Grants faced his life with humor and honesty, when he could have easily chosen to be angry or depressed. And finally, Jessica get's her story told! A wonderful story from beginning to end that makes for a great end to a series, yet leaves the door open for more books, just not about the O'Malley sisters. A fantastic read.

The Thorn Keeper by Pepper Basham ~ Review

The Thorn Keeper (Penned in Time #2)My Review:

Catherine Dougall has found peace and meaning, working as a nurse alongside David Ross, helping him to put back together hundreds of men torn apart by the battlefield.

David struggles to provide care for those in need, not only those wounded on the battlefield, but those in town from less reputable backrounds, and those who cannot afford to pay the town doctor. He is dependent on his grandmother for funds, which makes his difficult job even harder.

Can Catherine and David overcome their obstacles of class and past, to find a bright future?

Catherine has found peace and contentment, working as a nurse, since coming to Christ her life has changed drastically and there are those who are still skeptical. One of them being Jessica, David's sister. I loved how Catherine acknowledges her past and mistakes, and puts them behind her, she wants to help others to matter the cost, and finds joy in putting others first.

There is a lot going on this book, with a fast moving plot, and plenty of little twists along the way, Catherine is definitely a very busy lady! She is constantly giving herself to her nursing, orphan children, and helping cast off women make a self sustaining business for themselves.

I like David and how he begins to see Catherine differently over the course of the story, he knew her before her change, and at that point would have had nothing to do with her, but as he sees her grow in love and compassion for others, he comes to care for the woman she has become.

Overall, a fantastic heartfelt journey of love and determination to face up to the past. I liked how this book talked alot about new beginnings, and how the past doesn't control the future, God is bigger than all of that. Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook by Pearl Barrett and Serene Allison ~ Review

Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook: Eat Up and Slim Down with More Than 350 Healthy Recipes
My Review:

Over the last few months I'd been pondering trying to eat healthier, cutting out unnecessary sugars and trying to gain more nutritional value from actual food. I had head about THM from many of my friends, many of whom swear by it. So when I saw this cookbook for review I knew that I had to give it a shot!

After reading through this book I became aware that the plan is not included in this book but in a second one, so this review is based off of just reading this specific book and trying some of the recipes.

One of the things that I really liked was how this book talked alot about getting more nutrients into one's diet, and cutting out things like white flour and sugar, but it's OK to cheat a little too. I felt like the idea was to promote a healthier more nutrient filled diet, the food is meant to be satisfying, as in filling, and also great for the tastebuds.

What I really liked about this book was how it taught me how to flavor things, I've always wanted to learn to use and combine spices, but I've never quite mastered it, but following the directions of this book led to great flavorful meals. I noticed in the week that I ate from the cookbook that I felt more energized and less weighed down by gross greasy foods. And on the day that I went out with a friend for icecream, that I could clearly feel the difference in my body, and how I felt afterwards--more sluggish and my stomach felt "heavier." I felt like I had become more sensitive and could more easily feel the different in how I felt after eating.

This was a great recipes book because it shows that you don't have to sacrifice flavor at all! Everything that I tried was, in fact, actually more flavorful than what I normally would eat. I was also glad that I didn't have to cut out dairy, and that some of their recipes include actual real cheese--knowing that cheese and dairy products weren't completely forbidden made me more comfortable with the recipes.

The recipes that we tried were: Sweet Potato Oat Soup, Taco Time, and Cry-No More Brownies. All of them turned out great, and are recipes that I will definitely repeat.

Overall, a nice cookbook with great nutritious and healthy recipes, bursting with flavor and at times interesting ingredients. I look forward to trying more recipes in the future--though I would warn people that most of the recipes include ingredients that are not always on hand in most homes, so I had to run to the store before I could try some of them. I am very interested in looking into the actual plan now, to see if it is doable. This book is a great resource for eating healthier, and while I'm not doing the plan right now, I really enjoyed the recipes, and look forward to trying more in the future :)

Ginger is a small business owner in the town Maple Springs, she runs the small tea shop, and is very involved in what is going on in town. In fact, she is organizing a store front decorating contest in honor of Valentine's Day.
Ginger is vivacious and friendly, will she be able to break through and get to Zach, and find the one thing missing from her life?

Zach and Ginger are brought together when Zach buys the building that houses Ginger's shop, he agrees to let her decorate the window, in exchange for her watching his shop while he's working. Ginger and Zach are opposites, with him being a man of few words, while she is outgoing and more talkative.

I love how Ginger and Zach both grow as people as a result of their growing relationship, and help the other face the baggage from their pasts, and what they truly want.

Overall, a sweet small town romance, funny, and engaging, it makes for an engaging Valentine read!

The Painter's Daughter by Julie Klassen ~ Review

The Painter's DaughterLucie's Review:

Sophie Dupont is the painter's daughter, and she often walks the cliffs, which is where she meets Stephen, the brother of the man who loved her and left her with child.

Captain Stephen Overtree is not a stranger to hemming up his brother's loose ends, while in search his brother he comes upon Sophie, a woman that he recognizes from one of his brother's portraits. Upon learning of her condition and his brother's role, he offers her the protection of his name. Stephen can't offer love, but he wants to do something good with his life, and if he dies in battle she will be well provided for. But as they get to know each other the the awkwardness disappears, but when Wesley comes back, Sophie finds herself in a in a love triangle with the man who left her, and the husband that she barely knows...

A well built, character driven story, about forgiveness and powerful unconditional love. Sophie has few friends, so I loved how Mrs. Thompson was quick to offer an ear for listening and to offer her friendship. And Stephen's grandfather is very kind, and is pleased to hear about Sophie and Stephen's marriage, rather than disapproving like many of Stephen's family.

Stephen is a noble man, honor and duty mean a lot to him, and he has been picking up after his reckless brother, since they were boys.  He is a strong man of faith, and he isn't scared to share his faith with his wife. I loved how supportive Stephen is of Sophie's art and encourages her in ways that her father never did.

Overall, this is a well written read, full of drama, surprises, and mystery. Engaging from the beginning, it has a wonderful multi-faceted plot, and engaging and well formed characters. I liked Sophie grew over the course of the book, she becomes involved in Overtree Hall, and comes to find real friends who care for her as she does for them. A fantastic read from beginning to end, with character that will capture your heart and stay long in your memory.

Thin Ice by Irene Hannon ~ Review

Thin Ice (Men of Valor #2)
Astor's Review:

Christy Reed is finally putting her life back together after the death of her parents and sister in a tragic car accident. But when a letter arrives claiming that Christy's sister is still alive, written in her sister's handwriting.

Lance McGregor, former Delta Force member, and FBI Special Agent, is the man assigned to the case. The more that he discovers, the more the danger increases. Can he protect Christy, from a similar fate as her family?

What kind of game has Christy found herself entrapped in?

A fast paced, and tension filled read, filled with suspense and action, it was hard to put the book down as more things were revealed.

I really liked Lance from the beginning, he is a very noble man, with a history of bravery and strength, yet he has questions and is at times vulnerable, which only added to his strength and complexity as a character.

The writing in this book was tight! Tension with every turn of the page and the parts of the story told of the bad guy's POV only added to that. The was a kind of frantic feeling to it, in a good way, because I felt the time clock ticking off the time, which is why the tension in this book was so magnificent. I loved the characters, and how they came to rely on each other, with a genuine give and take relationship, drawing from each other's strengths. I loved how Christy stayed true to her beliefs and faith in God through everything.

Overall a fantastic read filled with suspense and thick tension, this is a non-stop action packed read that you won't want to miss!
