One Little Lie by Colleen Coble ~ Review

Lucie's Review:

Jane Hardy is appointed to be the interim sheriff in Pelican Harbor after her father's retirement, but her first day brings more than she bargained for with a well known journalist filming a documentary about her, and her father being framed in a horrible crime. But she wonders if any of this is connected to her family's past in a cult.

Reid is the journalist documenting Jane's life, he is a single dad with secrets of his own. He sees everything that she is going through while filming her life, and their growing friendship gives her someone to talk things over with as the danger grows.

Will Reid and Jane be able to find the killer and clear her father's name.

An action-packed read with an intricate plot, and well developed characters. Jane has been through a lot, and has a lot of pressure on her because of this case and her life under scrutiny with the filming of the documentary. She feels like she has something to prove with her appointment, as well as with the accusations being levelled at her father. I admired her strength, and how she and Reid become friends and he becomes someone she can count on, as she doesn't have many people that she can trust.

Reid understands Jane, as he can relate to much of what she has gone through. He has a strong faith, with good discernment, and is a supportive father to his teenage son, Will.

An engrossing read with great character development that was realistic, as well as a strong cast of supporting characters that bring this story to life, I loved the emotional depth of this book, and how well it sets up this new series to grow in upcoming installments. Well worth the read, full of action, suspense, and mystery, as well as family drama, faith, and glimmers of hope.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
