What I'm Reading ~ Weekend 2/3-5/12

From Across the Ancient Waters

Hello again :) I'm here with a weekend jam-packed with reading!

Just this morning I started listening to From Across Ancient Waters with the text-to-speach feature on my kindle. I hope to have my review up this next week so look out for it, because I have some interesting thoughts on this one!

Back Blurb:

Return to Wales with best-selling author Michael Phillips in his latest historical novel. After being sent to his uncle’s estate, young Percy Drummond has no intention of letting the country atmosphere soften his rebellious ways. Then he meets a village girl Gwyneth Barrie and her friendship changes his life. When Percy later returns, his intriguing friend has grown into a young woman. But by this time, Percy has caught the eye of his beautiful cousin Florilyn. . .who has also become Gwyneth’s friend. What will result of their threefold friendship? And what repercussions will his uncle’s surprising request have for them all?

Warring Spirits (Creek Country Saga, #2)Another book I'm reading is April W. Gardner's Warring Spirits. LOTS of tension going on here! I love it :)

Back Blurb:

Three cultures, one battle. A thousand warring spirits.

In 1816 Georgia, escaped slaves control the land just beyond the American border in Las Floridas. Lost somewhere between white and black worlds, Milly follows hope to the only place that can offer her refuge—the place Georgians are calling Negro Fort. The first, sweet taste of freedom convinces Milly that surrender is not an option. Death would be more welcome.

Major Phillip Bailey has orders to subdue the uprising and return the runaways to their masters. Forced to fight alongside Creek warriors—the same who etched the scars into his mind and flesh—Phillip primes himself for battle. But inside, a war already rages—return for the woman he thought lost to him or concede her to the enemy she loves; follow orders or follow his heart.

An Amish Family ReunionLooking forward to this one! The author comes very highly recommended to me :)

Back Blurb:

During a rumschpringe visit to Niagara Falls, Phoebe Miller meets Eli Riehl, a young man who charms her--and everyone else--with his exceptional storytelling ability. When Phoebe sketches scenes to illustrate one of his tales, Eli encourages her incredible talent, and together they embark on a lofty and unlikely business venture for two young Amish people--writing and illustrating a children's book.
Eli's kindness and appeal extend beyond his knack for words to reach inside Phoebe's heart. But he is an only son with five sisters, and when his father suffers a heart attack, Eli gives up his writing to assume responsibility on the farm. Though willing to abandon his dream of becoming an author, he won't give up his beloved Phoebe.
Can their love for a good story develop into something that lasts forever, or will Phoebe's deep-seated fear of desertion stand in their way?

That's what I'm reading this weekend. What are you reading? I'd love to hear from you!

Have a wonderful weekend *waves jauntily*

  1. Sounds like some great reading! An Amish Family Reunion seems to have an interesting premise, and Warring Spirits sounds fabulous! As for From Across Ancient Waters, I've seen a different cover for that one... Looks like they still have the one with the girl on Amazon.com:

    http://www.amazon.com/Across-Ancient-Waters-Green-Snowdonia/dp/161626585X/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328313919&sr=8-1-spell

This might be an inconsequential question, but which cover do you like better?

Anyway, I think I'm going to be reading Sweeter Than Birdsong and A Wedding to Remember in Charleston, South Carolina this weekend. :)

Hope you have a great weekend!
