Review: A powerful film based on a true story, with a message of hope and salvation, showing how God uses flawed people for His glory, drawing lost sheep to Himself.
The story follows a young Greg Laurie as he navigates his coming of age in the 1970's, seeking a deeper meaning in life, coming from a broken home and looking for more. He encounters Lonnie Frisbee and Chuck Smith, eventually joining their church and finding his own passion for evangelism.
The movie touches on the highs and lows of the movement, showing the struggles that they were up against publicly and personally. My biggest takeaway from the film was how God used a eclectic group of people from a variety of backgrounds, people with their own struggles, and He can use us too.
The story is well told, with a great cast, script, and cinematic style that captures the story perfectly. An inspiring film with a powerful message, that is worth re-watching time and time again. A compelling story of finding faith, weathering the storms in life, and keeping the faith in times of trials. A powerful must see movie, great for adults and families with teens.
