Lucie's Review:
Welcome to Last Chance is the story of Lainie Davis who is on the run from her drug dealing ex-boyfriend, and she find solace in the tiny little town of Last Chance, New Mexico. She finds a home with an older woman named Elizabeth, and slowly finds herself becoming a part of the town's community. But what if she doesn't need to find herself, but the One who knows her better than anyone, even herself...
This is story about growing up and finding a home and a purpose, the story has a nice faith track, and plenty of complex characters. This story isn't so much a romance, but more of a story of a girl and how coming to the town of Last Chance changes her life. In Last Chance the people care about each other and support each other.
To be honest this was a bit of a hard read for me because there I didn't really ever warm up to Ray, and felt that even though he wasn't perfect and I wouldn't have liked him if he was, but I felt that his storyline was just lacking for me, because he didn't ever seem to be concerned with Lainie's lack of faith, so I had a hard time being satisfied with the ending.
Overall, this was more of a situational drama, about one girl's emotional, physical, and spiritual journey. Personally this book just wasn't for me, though I could see that this did paint a realistic picture of characters more of how they would be in real life and not so much as we want them to be.
