Love Finds You in Sugarcreek Ohio by Serena B. Miller ~ Litfuse Tour & Review

Lucie's Review:

Take a trip into Amish country, and meet a full cast of wonderful characters, in this novel that has also been made into a motion picture.

Rachel has three aunts, Bertha, Lydia, and Anna. Bertha is the oldest at 80, and what she says goes. She left the Amish to become a nurse and run an orphanage in Haiti, but she returned to the Amish to take care of her parents. Lydia is a widow with no children, who loves to cook. Anna has down syndrome, but it doesn't stop her from having fun and bringing light to the lives of others.

Rachel wants to make her aunts' lives easier so she convinces them to close the inn they've been running, yet Bertha reserves the right to not turn away a stranger.

Rachel is not Amish, though she was raised by her Amish aunts. Rachel followed in her father's footsteps and became a cop. She is suspicious of strangers especially the father and son that her Uncle Eli brought to the inn.

Joe Matthews has been driving across the country with his four-year-old son, Bobby, in an old truck until he breaks down in Sugarcreek and discovers that his wallet his missing. When a kind Amish man offers him and his son a place to stay, Joe accepts and is thankful for this way to keep his son safe.

This is a wonderful book with well crafted relationships between the various characters, I loved the touches of humor and the engaging pace of the story. The characters were fantastic, I think my very favorites were the three sisters, they were each so different yet they fit together like puzzle pieces.

This is a tale brimming with mystery and suspense, not to mention drama! I loved reading about Rachel and Joe, their relationship and interaction was great.  There was a great faith track, as Rachel and Joe both returned to the faith of their childhood, as well as many great humorous moments. This was a great read from beginning to end!
