About the Book:
"Don’t you know? Animals like you have no soul.”
Could God ever love a half-blood all of society looks upon with such fear and disdain? Jace once believed so, but when a tragic loss shatters the only peace he’s ever known, his faith crumbles as the nagging doubts he’s tried to put behind him descend on his grieving heart. With them come the haunting memories of the bloodstained past he longs to forget, but can never escape.
Taken from home at a young age and raised to serve the emperor, Kyrin Altair lives every day under a dangerous pretense of loyalty. After her unique observation skills and perfect memory place her into direct service to the emperor, Kyrin finds herself in further jeopardy as it becomes increasingly difficult to hide her belief in Elôm, the one true God.
Following the emperor’s declaration to enforce the worship of false gods under the penalty of death, many lives are endangered. But there are those willing to risk everything to take a stand and offer aid to the persecuted. With their lives traveling paths they never could have imagined, Jace and Kyrin must fight to overcome their own fears and conflicts with society as they become part of the resistance.

(Previously published as Molly Evangeline.)
Kyrin and Jace's worlds collide in this adventure fraught read set in a fantasy world where gladiators still battle, and though darkness is closing in, hope still shines bright and pure.
Kyrin is a gifted young woman, who trains to serve the emperor along side her twin brother Kaden. While Jace is a person of mixed-blood, considered the lowest of the low, looked down upon by all.
Can they leave behind everything they've ever known to lead a Resistance?
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book, and I think I was expecting something quite different, and as a result it took me a while to get into the story and understand what was really going on. But as I got to know the characters and understand their environment I found myself drawn into the story.
This is a great book for fans of dysotopian fiction, who like the action and complex characters. While the setting isn't really dysotopian, there are many similarities that I think dysotopian fans would appreciate, while being swept into a completely fresh fantasy, with strong Christian themes.
I think what I admired about the Kyrin and Jace was their faith through the tough times, it certainly wasn't easy. There was also great depth to the faith messages.
Overall, a great new novel, with memorable characters, strong faith, and great dialogue. I would definitely recommend this book to Christian Fantasy lovers.

I think this would indeed appeal to fans of dystopian fiction. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on the book! I'm glad you found some parts that stood out to you. :) Jaye and I appreciate your participation in the tour!ReplyDelete
Thank you so much for your review! I love that you mentioned the dystopian aspect of it. It was never my intention to have a dystopian-like fantasy novel when I started, but it was fun to see it grow into that as the story developed.ReplyDelete
Thank you so much Jaye and Amber so for letting me be a part of this great tour :)ReplyDelete
