A thrilling adventure of courage and faith, set on the Channel Islands
during WWII.
Dr. Ivy Picot is doing everything she can to carry the practice and hold her family together after the German invasion of the Channel Islands. Ivy is quiet, compassionate, and a peacemaker, I admired her courage and her tenderness, as well as how she always responded to her sister out of love even when it was difficult. She is loyal to her homeland, and I liked her quiet, quick intelligence. Gerrit Van Der Zee is a Dutch engineer who volunteers to work with the German army in order to help the resistance. I admired him for his courage and bravery to stand up despite the risks.
A compelling story of courage, perseverance, family, duty, and faith. Ivy had far more patience with her sister, Fern, than I think I could have mustered given the circumstances. Ivy and Gerrit find their faith tested and challenged in ways they never could have imagined, fighting for their homelands. A well researched read, with a riveting plot, and characters you can cheer for all the way through. Highly recommend!
