My Review: Full of unique characters, each with their own charm, The Keeper follows that Lapp family through their journeys of love, laughter, and forgiveness.
Roman Troyer is the mysterious travelling bee man, who stops at the Lapps, and stays longer than expected, helping them and even finds himself growing through the experience. Julia is tired of her betrothed, Paul Fisher continually pushing back their wedding date. When Paul breaks off the wedding, Julia knows there is only one person on which to pin the blame. Roamin' Roman Troyer, the travelling beekeeper. Will Roman be able to help Julia mend her broken heart?
I was surprised at how well the Amish way of life was captured in this book. I turned the pages rapidly, yet at the same time The Keeper was a relaxing read.
The Keeper has it all, a riveting plot, mystery, humor, romance, and some seriously amazing characters. And don't even get me started on the characters! Each and everyone of the characters made me smile and snagged a piece of my heart. M.K. (Mary Kate) with her innocent precociousness, and matter-of-fact ways. Menno with his giving heart. Hank with his unabashed comfort in being himself. Fern in her no-nonsense wisdom. And many more, but my favorite was Sadie, who was vulnerable, and going through a confusing time in her life.
Overall, The Keeper was a charming book, that is everything that a Christian fiction book should be. Memorable, and definitely a book to be re-read, this book is a keeper :) I would highly recommend this book, to lovers of Christian fiction and sweet romances. You will not regret picking up this book!
