What I'm Reading ~ Weekend 1/27-29/12

Alienation (C.H.A.O.S., #2)

Hard to believe another week has come and gone! But onward to the books! This weekend I'm hoping to get some great readng in and start on some new titles :)

First up Alienation. At first I thought this book would be a bit strange, but so far it's actually pretty cool, and even though I didn't read the first book I was able to jump right in. I"m hoping that this will be a book I can pass on to my brother :)

Back Blurb: The invasion was only the beginning . . .

After his parents were killed in a car accident, Colt McAllister was drawn into a world he thought only existed in comic books-one where mind control, jet packs, and flying motorcycles don't even scratch the surface.
Along with his best friends Oz and Danielle, Colt is now training at the secret Central Headquarters Against the Occult and Supernatural academy. But strange accidents seem to follow him. . . even with the security of the school grounds. What first seems random soon turns deadly. But who is targeting Colt?

As the alien invasions increase in frequency and force, C.H.A.O.S resources are taxed to the limit and they're forced to utilize the new recruits. In the midst of battle, Colt will discover some startling revelations . . . about himself, his friendship with Oz, and why he has been chosen to defeat this alien attack against earth.

Threads of Hope
The other book I'm reading, I believe you will agree with me is quite different!

Back Blurb: The year is 1848, and Kristin Eikaas has sailed from Norway to make a new life for herself in Wisconsin. It doesn’t take long for her Uncle Lars to warn her about the Sundberg family. When she asks why, Lars tells her that Karl Sundberg’s second wife is an Indian who “casts evil spells on the good people of this community.” Having just left the old country where superstitions abound, Kristin believes her uncle and heeds his warning. On the day after her arrival, the family attends the wedding of a fellow church member. At the reception that follows, Kristin meets Sam Sundberg and thinks he’s charming. Still, she can’t help but remember her uncle’s warning. After coming to the rescue of Sam’s half-sister, Kristen is ostracized by her family and the entire community and sent to work at the only place that will take her in—the Sundberg farm. When she learns of Sam’s true nature, his benevolence toward others, his care and concern, she’s finally able to lay her belief in superstitions to rest and put her entire trust in the Lord. Furthermore, she can’t help but fall in love with Sam, the man who helped her understand this truth. She knows her uncle will never approve of the match. Will she have the courage to follow her heart?

So that's what I'm reading this weekend. What about you? I'd love to hear about it, so don't be shy :) Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. How fun! I think it's neat to have such different books for your weekend reading. :)

I've got quite a bit of homework to do this weekend, but I'm also hoping to spend some time reading Sweeter Than Birdsong, and possibly Beyond Molasses Creek or Sixty Acres and a Bride.

    Happy reading! :)
