Deep Extraction by DiAnn Mills ~ Review

Deep Extraction (FBI Task Force #2)
Lucie's Review:

When FBI Agent Tori Templeton's former best friend, Sally, is the prime suspect in the murder of Sally' oil magnate husband, Nathan, Tori finds herself to separate her personal connections from the case. Tori's partner, Max, thinks that Sally is guilty and says that it doesn't look good that she is connected to the case.

Deputy US Marshal Cole Jeffers is a friend of Nathan's and he joins their task force to see justice done for his friend. Neither Max or Tori are thrilled to have his help, so he must prove himself to them both, as he fights for the truth. As the hunt for the truth get's more treacherous, will what they find surprise them all?

This is a great read, and a more realistic look at a true investigation, talking to the same people and shifting though evidence and circumstances, each time finding one more nugget that leads them closer to what they seek. Both Tori and Cole are surprised that Nathan might not have been all that they thought he was. There is great dialog throughout, as well as plenty of action, tension, and dangerous situations.

Cole is a straightforward guy, and he knows right away that he would like to know Tori better. He takes every opportunity that he can to talk to her and share his faith with her, he encourages her to keep seeking and don't look down on her for doubting. He follows where God leads, even though he is aware that it could cost him his life.

Tori is a capable and confidant woman, she is afraid if her own mortality, and is looking for answers, not only to the mystery, but to her own personal questions about life and death.

I liked the lighter moments as well between Cole and Tori, they fall into a friendship quickly and work well together. There is some graphic violence because of the nature of the story, but nothing more than PG-13. It was a fast paced and well done story throughout, hard to put down and a fantastic adventure. Highly recommend!
