My Review: An intriguing book that delves into the subject of surrogacy and it's effects on the modern day family.
Amanda Lisandra is a military wife, struggling to make ends meet and put her daughter through school, when she hears of a way to earn money with one of the few resources she has, her body to give a childless couple a baby.
But then her husband dies leaving her distraught. But then when she sees a picture of the baby she gave away, she begins to question, and wonders if she might have given up her and her late husband's own biological child...
This was a heartbreaking read, because I felt like this was such hard situation so many ways around and my heart hurt for what Amanda lost.
The story was well written with a portrayal of the emotions that Amanda was going through, at times it was just so hard to read, because of the parallels of what it was like for Amanda and her sister-in-law, Amelia.
I felt that Ms. Hunt did a good job of portraying Amanda and how normal women are convinced to be surrogates.
Overall, a well told story with a bitter sweet taste to it, Amanda had to make so many tough choices that tested her and her faith to the limits, I can't imagine what she was going through. A great book for those who like a emotional read on a controversial subject.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
