My Review: Meditate on God's Word while tracing the words onto your heart.

Bound in a beautiful gold embossed light gray, with an open exposed binding so that it can be laid completely flat, printed in larger 17 point gray italic font that is neat and flowing to compliment natural handwriting. This volume contains the complete New Testament in NKJV, and while it doesn't have maps or a concordance, it has topical reading plans on 12 topics from anxiety, faith, eternal life, comfort  and more.

This edition measures 8 1/4 X 6 3/8 X 1 5/8 inches, and features thicker paper that is smooth and easy to write on. I like how the open binding allows it to be laid flat, but I noticed that it makes it weaker, and the clear coating has just enough tack to attract extra dirt, so I try to reserve it for home studying to keep it nice. I liked how the font is larger and easy to read, with a lovely italization that mimics the flow of writing right handed. It is relaxing to take my time tracing the words, while turning them over and over again in my head.

Well done, and beautifully put together. This would make a thoughtful gift for someone, or is an enjoyable addition to your own personal Bible study. This Bible is great for home study, and for people who would like to journal, but don't know where to start, or who like to take their time thinking about God's word and enjoy writing. A great way to connect with God's word, in a simple, but meaningful way. Definitely worth picking up!

My Review:

A Bible truly made for an immersive study and journaling experience, spiral-bound so it lays flat on the table, with wide margins for notes, with an open layout, comprehensive outlines, full color key verse illustrations, reading logs, with maps and timelines.

It measures 11 1/4 X 10 1/2 X 1 3/8 inches, so it is a heftier Bible and not the easiest to take with you to church, and the edition I have is the only New Testament, while 5 volumes make up the entire Bible. But don't let the size scare you, because this has many features that make it well worth the size. I think my favorite thing is that I can truly lay it completely flat on my table, making it great for making cross references or taking notes. The cover is durable, and the pages are thicker to complement and hold up to the spiral-binding, as well as hold up better to drawings, highlighting, as well as takes the color from colored pencils better. It has complete footnotes, and I liked how the Old Testament references were bolded for easy recognition. There are also empty pages in the back for more notes, or artwork. The 10 point font is easy to read, and the wide margins are perfect for notes.

The introductions to the books include a map on the other side, give context to the book as well as information on the author, and topics touched upon. I really enjoyed using this Bible, and how the designers really went all the way, leaning into making it durable, and accessable for notes, journaling and artwork. A beautiful gift for someone you love or for yourself!

David and his wife, Inga-Lill, have three adult children and three grandchildren.

My Review:

Beautifully bound in a light brown leathersoft binding, with golden gilt page edges, 2 ribbon markers, complete with verse-by-verse commentary, concordance, 7 full color maps, this NKJV study Bible from Thomas Nelson is my new go to for everyday study.

Good size font for more comfortable reading, double column layout, book introductions, with essays and application notes throughout. I grew up going to the internet for David Guzik's verse by verse commentaries, liking his straightforward and easy to understand way of bringing out deep themes from the text. When using the bible, you can simply look down to the blue lettered portion and read commentary that accompanies the text. It makes it easy to study larger themes, and nuances of the translation without leaving the text.

A great first study bible, for someone just getting into commentaries, as well as for the seasoned Christian. Well laid out format, easy to read, and beautifully bound. Great gift for yourself or someone else!

  My Review:

Beautiful CSB journaling Bible, great for study and meditation on God's word.

Thoughtfully constructed with a beautiful cream LeatherTouch cover, and a Smythe sewn binding that helps it lay flat. The single column 9.5 size text is easy to read, and each page has a 2-inch margin for journaling, notetaking, sometimes it includes artwork that can be colored to go along with the Scripture. The artwork ranges from designs in nature, to verses, and other images. This is a great Bible for at home study, great for really taking your time and spending time in God's word with, as it is a little heavier, and with bigger dimensions than your average Bible, so admittedly not the easiest to have with you on the go or take with to church or study.

It has all the basics and then some, with full-color maps, a one-year reading plan, Concordance, two ribbon markers, subject headings. This is a gorgeous Bible and would make an amazing gift for yourself or a loved one. I really enjoyed taking time to linger over the Word of God, while coloring the artwork in the margins, a quality set of colored pencils works the best in my experience.  It has so much room for recording answers to prayer, insights, and more, that are sure to make this an heirloom in the years to come!

My Review:

Read through the Bible in a year with the CSB Jesus Daily Bible, but unlike other yearly plans  it doesn't start on January 1st so you can jump in whenever you want!

The Christian Standard Bible (CSB) is a contemporary translation that strives for a balance between ease of reading as well as integrity to the original texts. The Jesus Daily edition is a great everyday Bible that is perfect for Bible in a year reading, as well as study material with charts, graphics, and articles. Each week section has an introduction and then a summary covering the passages read that week. I enjoyed reading through the charts that brought out themes pointing to Christ, filled with references in the Old and New Testament.

This Bible also includes a collection of colorful maps, bolded text, and a concordance. I think this is a great Bible for daily reading whether you follow the plan or not, a great resource with a lot of great features inside great for people who are always on the go.

Overall, a great Bible for someone who is looking for a little extra structure and guidance, but wants to study in a way that points to our Savior!

My Review:

Made with children in mind, this brightly colored Bible instantly caught my eye, impressing me with the thoughtfulness with which it was constructed.

When I first saw this Bible advertised, I instantly thought, "What a great idea!" Printed using a special font to increase readability, as well as a size 11 type, with 40 colorful inserts with book summaries, guides, maps, and themed reference lists, it is inviting from the get go. Using the Christian Standard Bible translation, which prioritizes accuracy and readability, it is a perfect fit for elementary age and beyond into adulthood. I especially liked the emphasis on connecting the readers to the people, themes, and context of the Bible, throughout the inserts as well as with the appendix that include a cross reference list that connect the OT quotes in the NT to the original text in the OT. I will note that it took time for me to get used to the book chapter indicators being at the bottom of the page instead of the top as I am used to, so navigating took some adjusting on my part.

But that's not all, it also comes with 10 colored overlays in various colors to help readers with dyslexia process the text better, there are options to play around with and find what works best for them.

I could not be more impressed with this Bible, the presentation is excellent, with a wonderful understanding of it's target audience, and great design throughout. Excellent choice for a full text Bible for the young person in your life!

Review:

Beautifully bound in timeless brown leathersoft, with gold gilt paper edges, and two ribbon bookmarks, the Life in Christ Bible: NKJV is made for reading again and again.

I loved the simple, yet classically elegant cover design, as well as the how the Bible has some heft to it, with a nice readable averaged sized print, that also features the words of Christ in red. Great for at home study or on the go, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed having a bigger Bible again, after years of carrying a pocket/thinline edition. I personally really enjoy the NKJV because it is readable, but still uses language that encourages an air of reverence, compared to more casual translations or paraphrases.

This edition has cross references, as well as reflections, and articles themed around identity and life in Christ. In a world that tries to define us based on money, gender, sin, nationality, past, and more, we must remember that our identity is rooted in Christ. Throughout the Bible there are multipart readings on various topics centered around these themes, serving as a wonderful reminder. This Bible would be a great gift for new a Christian or someone more mature in their faith. Solid Bible for everyday reading.

Night Night Bible Stories by Amy Parker and illustrated by Virginia Allyn ~ Review

My Review:

Comprised of 30 Bible stories from both the Old and New Testament, written to be read aloud before bedtime, and accompanied by charming and colorful illustrations.

Each story includes a Bible reference from where the story was taken, as well as a rhyming poem pertaining to the story, and nighttime prayer. The stories have very simplified language, but the print is not large enough for super young readers, so it seems to be a perfect read aloud for pre-school age children.

The illustrations are charming and complement the style of this Bible storybook well. The book is hardcover bound with a slightly padded front cover, with sturdy slick pages that will last well through the years, though best keep out of reach of  babies. This would make an excellent gift for a new young one.

A delightful book that introduces young children to 30 of the most well known stories in the Bible. Perfect for sharing and reading aloud.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

That Grand Easter Day! by Jill Roman Lord, illustrated by Alessia Trunfio ~ Review

That Grand Easter Day!
My Review:

Beautifully illustrated book that tells of Jesus's resurrection through a lilting and rhythmic rhyming style that builds and changes throughout this fun filled read.

I absolutely adored this beautiful book that tells of the marvels of Easter Sunday. I loved how the illustrations had a purple hue, and a lovely dappling that gives a sun-spotted morning glow to every picture. I thought the inclusion of the bunny to the story, so cute! I enjoyed how some of the verses of the poems were predictable, while others changed and grew throughout.

This book has a lovely, catchy rhythm to it that children will love, and with the beautiful illustrations this is sure to become an instant favorite. This is a wonderful book to share with young ones. Highly recommend!

The Beginner's Gospel Story Book by Jared Kennedy, illustrated by Trish Mahoney ~ Review

The Beginner's Gospel Story Bible
My Review:

52 chapters the tell the story of Jesus Christ, from Genesis to Revelation, with a conversational lilt to the storytelling, and thought provoking conversation starting questions that get the young person in your life to start thinking about the important things in life.

Illustrated in bright colors, and simple, but expressive pictures, this book brings to life the Gospel, from Creation to what is still yet to come. I loved that the chapters were concise. They took each event and connected it to the cross of Christ, and ended with a challenge question that was easy enough for a child to understand, yet deep and would be a great way to start a conversation.

I really liked how this book was very focused on helping children understand the Gospel, and what it truly means. This would be a fantastic book for a young person in your life, with it's bright colors and big print, it would even be perfect for new readers!

Overall, I was very impressed with this book, it takes the idea of a children's Bible storybook to the next level, and gets them thinking about the meaning of the story and what it means in light of the Gospel and Jesus Christ. Highly recommend!

KJV Word Study Bible published by Thomas Nelson ~ Review

My Review:

This study Bible is wonderfully bound in man made materials, with red letter text, a concordance, and 1,700 small studies on the meanings of Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic words and cross references to their location in Strongs.

This study bible is well laid out, and the text is of good size, making for unstrained reading. I was excited by the large, but not exhaustive concordance, as the one in my current Bible is rather limited. I did notice though that because of the keywords and translations, there weren't the typical footnotes and cross-references which may take some getting used to, especially if you are used to having them.

I really enjoyed the keyword studies, they were concise, and I looked forward to coming across an underlined word and being able to look up the original word roots.

Overall, this would be a great introductory to infusing your studies with more Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic root meaning, especially if Strong's is intimidating. A a great resource and study bible, perfect for people like me who want to study the root languages, but don't fancy carrying a Strong's Concordance around everywhere.

The Beginner's Bible by Kelly Pulley ~ Review + Giveaway

The Beginner's Bible: Timeless Children's StoriesMy Review:

A timeless and classic Bible storybook for children, from Genesis and The Fall to Calvary to Revelation, this edition does a pretty good job of covering it all.

It is a wonderful book to read along with the young ones in your life, with colorful illustrations and straightforward style that makes the stories easy to talk about.

This is a  sturdy book, meant to last through the years, and is one of the top selling Bible storybooks of all time. One of the things that I liked, was the big print and easy to read style, that makes it great for new readers to read of Jesus Christ on their own!

Overall, a timeless classic, sturdy in make, and great value. A lovely gift for young children that they will read over and over again, and treasure through the years. A delightful book that is a pleasure to share. Definitely a great addition to a child's library.

The Biggest Story by Kevin DeYoung CD and DVD ~ Review+Giveaway

The Biggest Story: How the Snake Crusher Brings Us Back to the GardenMy Review:

A while back I reviewed a book called The Biggest Story and if you are interested you can read the review HERE.

Well, anyway, I absolutely LOVED it, and so when I found out that it was coming out in both audio and dvd format I knew I couldn't pass up an opportunity to promote such wonderful resources. In the audio version the story is read by the author, with a soundtrack in the background, and you can listen wherever you go as the story comes to life.

My favorite was the DVD, because there the vivid illustrations by Don Clark come to life, in brilliant colors unfolding along to Mr. DeYoung's narration. This wonderful book starts in Genesis and goes all the way through to Revelation, showing our need for a Savior, pointing to a Jesus Christ and how he fills the roles of prophet, warrior, and king.

Overall, this is fantastic media, great for all ages it shows our need for a Savior who is the ultimate Snakecrusher who conquered death once and for all. The DVD and audio would make a great gift, or would be fantastic resources for children's ministry, I cannot recommend these products enough--probably the best book book marketed towards children that I have read all year! An absolutely stunning production, I highly recommend!

Great Stories of the Bible by David Miles ~ Review

Great Stories of the Bible
My Review:

Six easy-to-read I Can Read: Level 2 books all in one volume!

Share the Great Stories of the Bible, with the young people in your life in a format that they can read for themselves. Watch them read for themselves the example's of God's perfect plan and providence, through Adam and Eve, Ruth and Naomi, and the power of faith as they read about The Blazing Furnace, The Miracles of Jesus, and the love we ought to show others in the parables of the Lost Son, and Good Samaritan.

Bound in a durable hardcover volume, this is a book that is made with children in mind, it has brightly colored illustrations, that are a lovely complement, and very expressive.

Overall, this is a wonderful value, and at the end of each story there is a section where it talks about what lessons we can take from each example, backed up by scripture. Definitely a wonderful tool for teaching and sharing with young children. Highly recommend this easy to read compilation.

God's Good News Bible Storybook by Billy Graham ~ Review

God's Good News Bible StorybookMy Review:

Contained in a padded hardcover binding, and filled with charming illustrations Billy Graham has put together a Bible storybook devotional for children. The words are taken directly from scripture, unless noted and defined by italics which denote a summary paraphrase rather than a direct quote. Each section is accompanied by lovely illustrations that capture the love and excitement. And at the end of each story, there is a devotional, with questions to discuss and think on.

This would be the perfect read-aloud Bible before bed book, with pictures and great devotionals that go along with each section. The devotionals cover topics like sin, obedience, redemption, forgiveness, friendship, God's love and desire for us to come to know Him, as well as how God can use even the most unlikely to bring about His will--and so much more!

Overall, this is a very well put together book that is meant to be cherished and re-read countless times over the years. It tells the story of God's Good News, from Creation to Jesus' death and resurrection, to the revelation revealed to John of what is to come.
