Promise to Return by Elizabeth Byler Younts ~ Review

Promise to Return
My Review:

Miriam Coblentz has always loved Henry Mast, but their plans are delayed when Henry gets drafted to serve in the Conscientious Objector Civilian Public Services camp. Upon his return, Henry tells Miriam that he has enlisted to fight a war that he believes in, causing the Amish community to shun him.
Meanwhile Eli Brenneman seems determined to win her from Henry's arms.
Will Miriam stay faithful to Henry even if it means going against her community?

Promise to Return is a riveting historical novel, and excellent debut from Elizabeth Blyer Yount.

I loved getting to know the characters through Miriam's eyes, I thought this book did a great job of bringing to life her struggles the challenges she faced. Miriam wasn't perfect, and that's what made her likable and relatable as a character.

This book was complex and engaging, with many intertwining storylines and characters who cross paths.

Overall, this was a well written debut that told an excellent story. I would definitely recommend this to fans of Amish fiction, who are looking for a fresh new author that is sure to be a favorite!
