Astor's Review: A different kind of tale from Irene Hannon that is great in its own way.
Two sisters, that could not be more different, and have much more than a few years of heartache between them. They are brought back into each other's lives upon their mother's stroke. Karen, the older sister, is a divorcee struggling to raise a rebellious teenage daughter, while Val left town so long ago with a dark secret.
This might just be the summer of newfound friendship and second chances for Val and Karen.
Compelling characters drive this thoughtful read of a summer of second chances. Karen and Val learn to depend on each other and put their past behind them. Karen and Val both learned more about themselves and found hope, and I really thought that the characters communicated well with each other, in an honest and true-to-life way that was very easy to read.
Overall, this was a well written read that focused on the various relationships between the characters, the building and rebuilding. A wonderful book with a fantastic ending, and whose tale wrapped up much too quickly! Not the kind of tale that Ms. Hannon is most known for, but wonderful just the same.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
