Return to Shirley Plantation by Carrie Fancett Pagels ~ Review

Return To Shirley Plantation (Cry of Freedom #1)My Review:

Matthew Scott is the owner of a theatrical troupe, who finds himself conscripted into the Confederate Army against his will because of his father's political leanings.
Angelina is a free woman, taking care of her sister's children who are slaves at Shirley Plantation.
But when the war brings Matthew and Angelina together, mysteries are uncovered and friendships are forged.

Well written and researched, with a steady pace that made for a quick read, Return to Shirley Plantation was a sweet novella with snapshots of life on Shirley Planation during the Civil War.

I immediately liked  and sympathized with the main characters Angelina and Matthew, from the start. They both were not in the most ideal situations but had to depend on God, and trust that they were where they were supposed to be.

Overall a great novella, that I enjoyed and wished was longer so I could find out what happened to them next. I guess the only thing is that I wished there were more scenes in the book between Angelina and Matthew so I could see how their relationship grew. This was a great novella, well worth the read.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
