Lucie's Review:
The second part of Emmie's journey as she weathers the dangers and discomforts of life on the Fort, not to mention pregnant and with winter coming on fast.
Emmie is living with Sarah and Rand, and helps both Sarah and Amelia as much as she can. Meanwhile, Isaac admires Emmie despite her circumstances, but is unsure if she returns his feelings.
A wonderfully written story set at Fort Phil Kearney set around the time of the infamous Fetterman massacre. It's interesting to read about the Fetterman massacre through the eyes of another, as it has long been a part of my history, my great uncle was John "Portugee" Phillips himself.
Emmie is hardworking and doesn't want to be a burden to those around her. I really liked Isaac, and how was respectful of Emmie's need for space, after all that she has gone through. I loved the returning characters, and how we get to keep up with their lives too.
Overall, I don't want to give too much away, but I look forward to the final installment in this wonderful series by Ms. Coble.
