Lucie's Review:
Four stories that follow strong young women of the South, before and after the war that changed everything. Some of the novellas even revisit some of the settings from the author's previous novels!
A Heart So True: I really liked Abigail Clayton, she is a young woman who tends to defy the society norms, because she has a hard time just sitting about being proper. There are things that she wants to do, but she find herself in a predicament with two men vying for her hand. This was a very good story and I loved the beautiful setting.
To Mend a Dream: This was my favorite of the collection, Savannah Darby is a strong hardworking woman, she cares for her younger siblings, and working. She is sent to her old home to help the new owner, Aiden Bedford and his fiance redecorate. This is a well told story, brimming with mystery, and great dialogue.
Love Beyond Limits:
Emily Derracott is a teacher who teaches freedmen and women, along with another lady who hails from the North. When her childhood friend, Thomas McGinnis returns from the war with his heart set on marrying her, she is hesitant to say the least. I liked that Thomas was a good man, and he knew to give her some space and let her figure things out, while also proving himself as a true friend that was always there for her.
Outlaw's Heart: I really liked Russell Champion and how he treats Nora, the girl that he has always loved. He is always watching out for her, and there for her no matter what.
Overall, a lovely collection of stories, full of faith and family. Great characters and engaging plotlines, I thoroughly enjoyed each one of these lovely stories.
