Lucie's Review:
Angela Gallaher and Dr. Dan Blackwater served together in Afghanistan, and despite only meeting a few times, Dan recognizes her instantly.
Angela comes to Cobalt Cove in order to meet the brother of the man who saved her life while she was serving as a Navy Chaplain, now she is back in the states, but she is struggling with guilt and PTSD, wondering if she can continue as a chaplain.
Dan is a man of action and faith, he goes into a burning car and saves a girl before it blows up. He is a man of compassion and great understanding, he insists upon accompanying Angela on her search for Tank, and is determined to keep her safe and get to the bottom of things.
But with danger drawing nearer, will they be able to find the truth, while keeping their heads above water?
I liked Dan alot, he is very courageous he sticks by Angela's side through everything, making it his responsibility to be there for her. Dan knows how to encourage her and sees the best in her, even when she doesn't. Dan isn't perfect though, and he has his own scars from his time in Afghanistan, and comes to see his own purpose more throughout the course of this book.
This was a fast-paced read that I just couldn't put down, full of action and a multi-faceted mystery to uncover. I liked the gracious and hopeful way that Angela's struggles were portrayed and the interaction between Angela and Dan.
Overall, a fantastic read, with rich character growth. I admired how Angela never gave up or retreated even though she wanted to. A worthy read from beginning to end, and satisfying to the last. Definitely worth your time.
