If the Prospect Pleases by Sally Laity & The Mountain's Son by Gloria Brandt ~ Review

If the Prospect Pleases: Also Includes Bonus Story of The Mountain's Son by Gloria BrandtLucie's Review:

Annora Nolan works hard, and holds tight to her faith despite the miserable circumstances in her life after the death of her parents. She is taken in by the pastor and his family, but the pastor's daughter is not happy about the situation and makes Annora's life miserable.

When Annora finds a letter from a widower in Wyoming, with two daughters, who is looking for a housekeeper she knows that this is her chance, and with the help of her friend, Lesley, she finds herself on the train to Cheyenne.

Lucas Brent is surprised when Annora shows up, he never got her letter, she isn't what he expected. But Annora stands up for herself and convinces him to give her a shot.

Will Annora be able to change Lucas's mind?

I like that Lucas is a good father, and even when he is very busy he always makes time for his children.

Annora quickly bonds with the girls, encouraging them to help her out, and teaching them to cook. And I liked how Annora shares her faith the family in small ways, asking to go to church and praying before meals. This is a good story but it does take a while for the characters to meet and their lives to converge.

The Mountain's Son is the bonus story in this volume , unrelated character wise it does also take place in Wyoming.

Lydia Bennet and her family move to Wyoming to open a store in a small town. Her father sees life as an adventure and encourages her to do the same, while her mother is more concerned with propriety.

Caleb Jonas is a good man, and rancher but he left his faith behind when his family died. His journey back to faith is a very important part of the story.

I also liked how Sophia, Lydia's sister get's a happy ending too.

A sweet novella, about second chances and starting fresh.
