Journey of the Heart by DiAnn Mills and Song of the Dove by Peggy Darty ~ Review

Journey of the Heart / Song of the Dove
Lucie's Review:

Katie Coulter and her father have lived among the Comanche for years, Katie is engaged to marry Lone Eagle. But when Katie's father falls ill and his last request is that she go to live with her Uncle Seth and Aunt Elizabeth in Fort Davis, she complies and sets out on her journey leaving behind everything that she knows and loves.

Her Uncle and Aunt welcome her with open arms, they quickly realize that she has never been taught about God or the Bible, so they encourage her to read the scriptures and ponder what she reads.

Meanwhile, the people of the Fort are not the kindest, and they mistrust Katie because of her time with the Comanche. But Katie finds a friend in Peyton Sinclair, who doesn't judge her for her upbringing.

What will Katie find on her Journey of the Heart?

I really liked Katie and how she takes time to think about what she is learning about God and find comfort in hard times. Peyton is a good man, brave, and insightful.

I really liked this book and it's strong story of faith, as well as Katie's personal journey, as she enters a whole new world. I loved her how this story was dramatic, faith driven, romantic, and wasn't just about the relationship, but about Katie and her personal growth. Well worth the read.

Song of the Dove is the bonus novella that comes with this book. Elizabeth was abandoned as a baby at the side of the wagon trail and adopted by the Greenwoods. But life isn't exactly roses after that either, she finds herself with Mrs. Talbotson, who teaches her about Christ.

Adam Pearson is a travelling missionary and he tells everyone about the love of Jesus no matter their race or station.

Overall, a sweet historical read.
