The Engagement Bargain by Sherri Shackelford ~ Review

The Engagement BargainLucie's Review:

Confirmed bachelor Caleb McCoy is more comfortable with animals than with humans, especially women. But after saving a woman who is shot he finds himself posing as her fiance in order to keep her safe.
Marriage isn't something that Anna thinks much of, but when the gentle veterinarian saves her life and offers to pretend to be her husband she can't help but notice the quiet strength about Caleb. And she can't help but wonder what it would be like to be his fiance for real.

I loved how Anna is genuinely touched by the stories of the women she meets and honestly wants to help them, and how she blossoms in small town living away from the high expectations of her suffragette mother.

One of the characters that made a big impact on me was Izetta Franklin, who is a good friend to Anna and openly shares her faith with her.

I loved the humorous elements to the story of which there were many, one even involving a goat who comes to church!

Overall, this was a great read from beginning to end. The mystery surrounding Anna's shooting keeps the story going, as well as the great interaction between her and Caleb. A great story!
